Berkeley Inns Ltd announce the re-opening of another historic local Country Pub

Berkeley Inns Ltd are extremely delighted to announce that they will reopen the doors to the renowned Meynell Ingram Arms in Hoar Cross Staffordshire at 6pm on Friday the 10th May 2019.

This historic Staffordshire pub has been closed for over five years and was acquired by Berkeley Inns Ltd in November 2018, it has since undergone a major but sympathetic refit and redesign. The traditional pub bar remains very much at its heart, complimented by modern and comfortable dining areas. Added to this, the much transformed Sam’s bar becomes an on-trend bar/restaurant offering flat screens for major sporting events and, of course, pizza.

The new offering provides casual, relaxed dining, with a high-quality and diverse menu throughout the various dining areas. From delicious pie & chips to fresh lobster, there will something for all tastes and occasions.

The much-renovated courtyard and gardens are complimented by an independent outside bar which will provide a great space on those sunny days we all hope for…

The Meynell Ingram Arms is the fifth addition to the group who currently operate The Cow – Dalbury Lees, The Horseshoes – Long Lane, The Cock Inn – Mugginton and The Bluebell – Kirk Langley in Derbyshire.

A new management team has been assembled with promotion for some group team members and several outstanding new recruits. Following a very successful stint as Manager of The Cow at Dalbury, Thomas Cross progresses to the role of General Manager at the Meynell.

QUOTE: Thomas Cross – General Manager

“It has been a real pleasure to work with Howard and the Berkeley Inns team, all of whom share a passion for excellence. Over the last year and a half of operating The Cow I feel ready for a fresh challenge and have been lucky enough to recruit a superb new team at The Meynell. I am extremely fortunate to be joined by Colin Ansell, as Head Chef. Colin is an extremely talented award-winning chef and comes with a wealth of culinary experience and expertise; having worked at some of the Midland’s finest award winning establishments. Previously Executive Head Chef at Ronnie Scott’s in Birmingham, Colin has spent the last 10 years as Head Chef at Pascal’s at The Old Vicarage where he has received numerous accolades. I very much look forward to welcoming our guests and creating what I hope will be a fabulous facility and experience for all.”

QUOTE HOWARD THACKER, Managing Director – Berkeley Inns Ltd

“I feel like we’ve been entrusted with a very special place that has been close to the hearts of so many over the years. We have taken this responsibility seriously in transforming the building into something economically viable but at the same time retaining and returning character to the property.

By necessity, it will be a modern take on what was there in the past; in the original bar and surrounding area we have tried to recreate the traditional country pub feel. Muddy boots, doggies, overalls, suit and ties, all equally welcome. With the newly built cellar and bang up to date equipment we should be serving the very best quality cask ales and some great kegged beers. This will be complimented by a first class wine list and superb range of spirits and cocktails. Quality soft drinks and non-alcoholic variants complete the offer.

Beyond the main bar area, we have some eclectically designed restaurant spaces, very different to the previous incarnation. Cosy and comfortable environments, perfect for casual and finer dining.

Sam’s bar will now be directly accessible through the main pub and will feature the Pizza kitchen and new independent bar servery. Sam’s will also offer multiple screens showing major sporting events on Sky/BT and terrestrial channels.

Extra effort has been put into creating seriously cool outdoor spaces with a fabulous courtyard and garden featuring a living wall, multiple planters, heated spaces, heated parasols and extensive seating.

I hope you like what we’ve done with the old place!”
